Using Sea Foam Spray to clean carbon in a 2014 Ford F15 Ecoboost twin turbo [SOLVED]
Asked by Bob S. In California
I have a 2014 Ford F150 Ecoboost engine twin turbo. I was told if I use Sea Foam Motor Treatment (liquid) through the brake booster hose to intake to clean carbon from the engine it is possible to damage turbos. They are expensive and I don’t want to damage them. What should I do to clean carbon?
We do NOT recommend adding any liquid using the brake booster method since it could damage your engine – see hydrolock.
A better way to clean carbon from intake valves and combustion chambers is applying Sea Foam Spray through the intake. It feeds all cylinders evenly, works great to clean carbon deposits, and won’t risk damaging your engine.
Note: Sea Foam Spray is only for gasoline engines. Do not use it in a diesel intake.
