How can Sea Foam help a ’96 Harley Davidson Dyna after years of sitting? [SOLVED]
Asked by Col D. In California
Just got a ’96 Harley Dyna that has sat for years after the previous owner died. So far I have cleaned out the fuel tank. Now how can I use Sea Foam in the fuel and crankcase for likely carb or other problems caused by gas gum/varnish? I doubt it will start without a pre-treatment of some kind.
Great question, Col. What I’d do: For starters, all I would do is add half a can of Sea Foam and a quart of fresh gas to the tank…then crank the engine for 15 seconds to pull the mix through the the carburetor circuits, then let it sit for a day or so before trying to start it. For oil, can add 1 oz of Sea Foam per quart of oil and allow it to work for the remainder of the oil interval. For both fuel and oil systems, Sea Foam is always working to clean harmful petroleum residues (varnish) that can restrict fuel and oil flow. It also works to lubricate upper engine areas. Hope this helps!
