Diagnosing low oil pressure with Sea Foam [SOLVED]

Have 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500, V8 5.3L gas, with 220k miles, drive daily, runs good, no major leaks and passed California smog test. Recently engine became noisy and low oil pressure. (Below 20 PSI at idle < 700 rpm). Also it seem loss of compression/ power (not tested). Please advise on treatment ideas. Thank you!

First step would be to get the codes read to see what kind of problem you’re dealing with. Most auto parts store will provide a free reading.

Here are 3 diagnostic ideas you could try with Sea Foam to help figure it out:

  1. One thing you can do is add half a can of High Mileage Motor Treatment to the oil and see if the oil pressure improves. Oil screens on Chevys with active fuel management have a tendency to gum up and cause low pressure readings.
  2. Intake treatment with Sea Foam Spray. Dirty intake valves can cause low compression.
  3. Add a couple cans of High Mileage Motor Treatment to a low tank of fuel. This will help to amplify the intake cleaning.
