Just purchased a 22 Ford Ranger with a 2.3L – 4 CYL that uses a Direct Injection fuel system. Is Sea Foam effective helping reduce the carbon build up issue caused by these kind of engines? If it is, how often should a can be poured in say a 1/4 tank? If Sea Foam is not effective, do you offer a product that is? Thanks in advance.
I’d recommend doing a Sea Foam Spray treatment through the intake once or twice a year to clean the intake valves in a Gasoline Direct Injection engine like that. You can find more info about it here:
While it won’t clean the same areas as Sea Foam Spray, adding a can of Sea Foam Motor Treatment to the fuel every 3,000 miles or so is a good idea to keep it running like new. You’re right on track with your idea to add a full can in a 1/4 tank (you could even go with 1/8 a tank – Sea Foam Motor Treatment works well in a high concentration like that.
